My Synopsis (Narrative Draft)

Note: I have decided to post my synopsis before analysing music videos as my Synopsis will determine what genre of music videos I will concentrate more on analysing (Ones that will help me the most in my own work.)

Firstly I wrote a draft of the narrative and some shot ideas. I wrote this based on my song choice, 'Baby Baby, Sunblock ft. Sandy' .

Draft

Girls in a classroom, Boys in a classroom, a board at the front with a ‘teacher’ pointing at it with a stick. The board has an advert for a volleyball game on it. OR girls with blonde hair in one classroom, girls with brown in other, red-haired teachers.

Both teams training for it, stretches, gym scenes, slow motion running, cuts to girl mouthing the lyrics (synching) with white studio background, bright lighting – this carries on throughout the video and then cuts back to training etc.

After training it cuts to match, cuts of them playing including close-ups, slow motion etc, cuts of male body with white studio background, bright lighting, the girls win, OR if both girl teams the brunettes win (Red-haired coaches.) Shots of them celebrating with medals, jumping up and down slow motion etc.

Finals, national volleyball match. Shot of nationals sign, audience, coach (with whistle) Shots of the team carrying sports bags. Shots of both teams facing each other, determined, angry expressions. Slow motion of first throw of ball, then mix of slow motion clips hitting the ball, and shots in real-time of the full match (establishing shots), cuts to score board, and then more shots of match, cuts to shots of girls mouthing lyrics with studio background etc and also dancing against it, close ups when they say lyrics, also medium shots, but long shots when dancing, shots of winning hit in slow motion, with cuts of audience been serious and quiet (on edge) to create tensions. The shot wins, the team celebrate (Jump up and down and then get presented trophy) Open champagne, spray it over each other. Also shots losing team with faces in hands, looking depressed – close-ups of this. End shot is the winners against studio background holding trophy.
